Linux Resources
Over the years the JaxLUG has had various resource initiatives that due to unfortunate losses of Wiki data, have lost many resources, some of which may still be recoverable. In that spirit, the JaxLUG will be authoring and creating a variety of resources to take anyone from Linux Zero to Hero, or if you are a Linux Hero already, from Linux Hero to Idol, or if you are a Linux Idol already, from Linux Idol to Guru, and if you are a Linux Guru, we will help you turn to into Light.
The following resources are intended to help people on their Linux journey from any starting point to any destination, and no, you are not required to enter the light, nor matriculate from Zero to Hero, or Hero to Idol, or Idol to Guru, but we would love for you to enter the Light, and shine the Light of Linux upon the dark and miserable lives of other operating system users; BSDs not included, they good Unix peeps, MacOS, not so much!
Community contributions are most welcomed; if you have an itch, scratch it! If you are wanting to know something that we have not listed, please reach out and let us know. Likewise, if you have knowledge to share, please author one or more pages and we will happily work with you to revise for publication on this very website, with attribution; FOSS is entirely about attribution!
These resources are by and from the local community, for the local community, to benefit the local community and beyond, and if you have further questions, not only can you reach out, but you may connect in-person with the local author and both feed off each others enthusiasm for Linux!
Zero to Hero
These are resources intended for people who are brand new to Linux, have no experience, may or may not have heard of Linux, be aware, or otherwise, are unfamiliar with Linux and want to start from the beginning, conceptually. No, you are not a Zero, just a Newbie, but these resources assume Zero Linux knowledge, or very minimal.
Hero to Idol
These are resources intended for people who have some experience with Linux and want to take this to the next level, to what some might call a power user, but we call them Linux Heros! When you can rely upon yourself for all your Linux needs, you are your own Linux Hero, and can help save a few poor souls running other operating systems.
Idol to Guru
These are resources intended for people who have considerable experience with Linux and still seek to expand upon their knowledge and skills; we tip our fedoras to you! These are the type of people that when others have Linux questions, they answer, and therefore, we call them Linux Idols! Can we get your autograph?
Guru to Light
Turn me into light! We cannot really turn you into light, but we can help you become the light in others lives, lighting up the dark and miserable worlds of ChromeOS, MacOS, and the darkest of them all Windows users. If your life is Linux, you breath, see, and can only speak of Linux, can only run Linux and find any other OS to be sacrilegious, when you sleep, you dream of Penguins, then these resources are intended for you.
